Inhalt: In this zoom-course on clinical psychology and psychotherapy, students acquire knowledge about the risk factors, classification, diagnostics and epidemiology of frequently occurring mental disorders. In addition, knowledge of basic intervention methods is to be developed and tested. The required examinations are carried out in the form of an oral group presentation (including role plays to showcase specific intervention methods) with individual written elaboration as well as a written test (combined scientific work). The presentation topics will be discussed at the first online meeting. Please note that this seminar is planned as a mere online flipped classroom class, that is students will upload a video of their respective presentations online for their peers to watch. Each presentation is required to include a role play showcasing a type of intervention typically used in the therapy process of the respective disorder. During the time scheduled for the seminar (wednesdays, 10:15 - 11:45am), students are encouraged to interact with the instructor, preferably via email, to ask any questions that might come up when preparing the presentation. Please note that is kind of set-up gives students a lot of freedom when to do their readings and other studies, but also requires a lot of self-reliance. If you feel, you might need more external structure, I would like to encourage you to pick one of the two parallel on site classes. Statistically, students who attend online-only classes tend to do worse in the final exam than students that attend on-site-classes.
