Inhalt: When you take a job, you become part of an organisation. Sometimes this can seem quite crazy in everyday working life: Why is everyone doing something different from what is described in the guidelines? Why don't others understand that my project is incredibly important? Why is she getting the promotion and not me? In the seminar we look at organizations as social systems in which 1. the division of labor inevitably leads to different perspectives on what is in the interest of the whole organisation; 2. there are inevitably power games; 3. there is often less adherence to rules than planned. We do not see these as pathologies of the organisation, but as perfectly normal phenomena arising from the inherent logic of organised systems. However, they do not make it easy to find one's way in organisations and to advance one's ideas and projects. How do micro-political processes work in organisations? Which methodological approaches allow a well-founded analysis of organisational structures? And how can leadership be successful in complex contexts? In the seminar we will address these questions from a scientific and practical perspective. As consultants at Metaplan we advise companies on their specific challenges in organisational and strategic development and translate findings from organisational science into action-oriented impulses for practice. The seminar is divided into three main themes 1. Acting smartly in micro-politics: Organisations are shaped not only by formal hierarchies but also by micro-political negotiation processes. We examine how understanding, power and trust influence decision-making processes - and how they can be used to advance one's own interests. 2. Managing change in organisations: Organisations have their own structural dynamics. We use organisational analysis tools to make formal and informal structures visible. This helps us to think ahead about change processes and to identify possible courses of action. 3. Taking the lead: From a sociological perspective, hierarchy and leadership are not the same. We discuss an organisationally intelligent understanding of leadership that moves away from the image of the heroic leader. In this way, we offer starting points for young professionals to take the lead beyond a disciplinary role and successfully drive their own projects.
