Inhalt: The seminar is designed to convey a better understanding of the legal requirements and administrative procedures concerning public procurement in the EU. Students will be able to classify and comprehend the logical constructions within which public contracts are tendered. This will enable the students to understand and compare the legal challenges and economic interdependencies in the field of public procurement in the EU. The methodological tools with which the students will be equipped consist of a systematic legal analysis of the structures and breadth of subjects revolving around the topic of public procurement in the EU. Ziel dieses Seminares ist es ein breites Verständnis bezüglich des öffentlichen Auftragswesens in der EU zu vermitteln. Dabei sollen die Studenten in die Lage versetzt werden verschiedene paneuropäische Auftragsprojekte im europäischen Rechtskontext zu evaluieren.

Inhalt: An introduction to structures and method of the common law within the UK and USA from a comparative perspective. After discussing the development and export of the common law, the main emphasis will be on private law, particularly the law of contract and torts. Some aspects of public law, notably in the context of governance, will be taught in summer semester.
