Continental Philosophy from the Anglo-American perspective (Seminar)

Inhalt: When Anglo-American researchers focus on continental philosophers (which are likely to have published theirs texts in German or French), they are forced to work with translations. But the problem with translation is that this is already an interpretation. The seminar will focus on how continental philosophy is received in the U.S. By doing so, we will read some secondary sources (which are NOT published in German yet) of German philosophers. And compare them to the German primary source. Throughout the seminar there will be three main topics: 1.) The discourse of the “continental vs. analytic”- field. 2.) The brand-new publication by Andrew Benjamin, which gives some profound information and interpretation of Walter Benjamin. 3.) The drama of Heidegger´s black note books in Freiburg, which lead to the self-destruction of Heidegger-Research January 2015 in Germany.

Inhalt: Angezielt ist eine Einführung in Heideggers Hauptwerk anhand seiner Entstehungsgeschichte . Gelesen weden sollen dazu neben "Sein und Zeit" selbst die frühe Jaspers-Rezension, die Vorlesung aus dem KNS 1919 und die "Hermeutik"-Vorlesung aus dem Jahre 1923.
