COVID-19 and the Crisis: Tools for Critique (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Götz Bachmann, Robert Samuel Hughes Rapoport

Termin:
wöchentlich | Mittwoch | 18:15 - 19:45 | 06.04.2020 - 10.07.2020 | HMS

Inhalt: The fight against Covid-19 needs urgent action. Yet, what is also urgently needed are spaces for reflection. As the state, freedom, collectivity, sociality, publics, responsibility, media, surveillance, work, home, nation are changing and being changed, and while huge resources are either spent or not produced (with enormous consequences for the future, yet different ones, depending on class, race, citizenship and gender), we need critical publics more than ever. This seminar will provide one kind of venue for such critical publics. This seminar is open for all MDM Students! We will discuss your experiences, and read texts that help us to understand our current moment of crisis and its coming aftermath. The seminar is designed in a way that it is also particularly suited for people who just want a venue to think through what is happening to us (if you want, you can – but do not have to! – you can also take this seminar as your ‘normal’ seminar in the module net critique). Due to the current circumstances, the seminar will be taught online. If offline teaching becomes possible again, we will adjust accordingly. Please make sure to take part in the first online session – which will be an opportunity to discuss and plan the forms and dates of this public venue! The course will also react directly to current events!
