Empirical and creative stream (Kolloquium)

Inhalt: Stream B is recommended for students planning to develop an empirical or a creative project. In the first half of the course, we will take a close look at those two ways - empirical and creative - of doing research on digital media (reading and discussing example studies). In the second half of the seminar, there will be an open forum where students present ideas or work-in-progress and give feedback to each other. It is okay if you are not sure yet what kind of thesis you would like to write. Also the four streams (theoretical, empirical, creative, technical) are not clear-cut, but rather they offer a rough orientation; there can be mixtures or variations.

Theoretical and technical stream (Kolloquium)

Inhalt: This course is recommended for students planning to develop an theoretical/historical or a technological project. In the first half of the course, we will take a close look at those two ways - theoretical/historical and technological - of doing research on digital media (reading and discussing example studies). In the second half of the seminar, there will be an open forum where students present ideas or work-in-progress and give feedback to each other. It is okay if you are not sure yet what kind of thesis you would like to write. Also the four streams (theoretical, empirical, creative, technical) are not clear-cut, but rather they offer a rough orientation; there can be mixtures or variations. This is a 10 CP module - if you took your assessment in the other 5CP course, you should take part without taking the assessment. Due to the current circumstances, the seminar will be taught online. If offline teaching becomes possible again, we will adjust accordingly. Please make sure to take part in the first online session – which will be an opportunity to discuss and plan forms and dates of online teaching.
