Einzeltermin | Do, 15.07.2021, 09:00 - Do, 15.07.2021, 17:00 | C 14.001 Seminarraum

Inhalt: The earth's surface is changing constantly, converting forests to farmland or farmland to urban areas. Quantifying and locating these changes is vital for policy making. In the last years, remote sensing has become a popular tool to tackle these challanges. The observation of the earth's surface through the eyes of satellites offer the possibility to detect land cover and land use changes. In this course, students will become familiar with the theoretical concepts of remote sensing imagery and will also learn how to design a remote sensing study. Moreover, we will do hand-on session in Google Earth Engine and create our own land cover maps with remote sensing data.

Spatial regulation in international law (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Julieta Sarno

Termin:
wöchentlich | Freitag | 12:15 - 13:45 | 06.04.2021 - 09.07.2021 | Online-Veranstaltung | FINDET IN VIRTUELLER FORM STATT
Einzeltermin | Fr, 09.07.2021, 12:15 - Fr, 09.07.2021, 13:45 | C 14.001 Seminarraum

Inhalt: What are the opportunities and challenges of spatial regulation in international law? During the course, participants will learn about the international legal and policy framework governing the protection of spaces as a regulatory approach, from land, water, polar regions, to the outer space. This approach will be analyzed in the light of different Multilateral Environmental Agreements such as UNCLOS, the Antarctic Treaty, WHC,UNCCD, among others. In addition, discussions on new and arising negotiations and debates will be held upon (e.g. BBNJ).
