Inhalt: Der Prozess der europäischen Einigung (europäische Integration) scheint u.a. durch rechtspopulistische Bewegungen, den Brexit und die schwelende Eurokrise in seinem Kern gefährdet. Um als mündige*r Bürger*in über die Europäische Integration und die Auswirkungen der diversen Krisen reflektieren zu können, ist ein fundiertes Wissen über die historischen, institutionellen und theoretischen Grundlagen der Europäischen Union und des politikwissenschaftlichen Nachdenkens über sie von zentraler Bedeutung.

Inhalt: The political science discipline of International Relations (IR) is characterized by a high degree of differentiation between competing theoretical perspectives, which political science students can hardly keep track of. This diversity results from constant examination of real-historical changes in the international system as well as intensive (scientific) theoretical examination and adaptation of findings from neighboring disciplines, such as sociology, international law, and political philosophy. The seminar introduces political science methods and texts for the study of IR, as well as an overview of the event and dynamics that continue to shape the contemporary global order. Sessions focus on concepts, but also have thematic elements that select specific episodes of IR in action and offer deep dives into the context, dynamics, and actors in these episodes.
