Ethnographic, experimental and performative methods (Seminar)

Inhalt: This doctoral course is dedicated to current approaches to empirical field work in the social and cultural sciences. It is hosted in cooperation with the ‘Data & Drama’ research group at Leuphana University. Based on the specific research interests and research sites of the participants, the course focusses on the ‘doing’ and writing of fieldwork: we hope to base the methodological discussions and reflections on ‘stories from the field’ (and images, and drawings, and affects, and atmospheres, and mappings, and walks, and voices or soundscapes, and lists or algorithms, and devices or media of research, and experiments or interventions, and …). Participants are expected to bring their specific ‘fieldworks’ to class, which will to some degree shape and structure how we move along (and what we read). The course will be held in English. Individual fieldwork-based presentations can be in German.
