Alternative Forms of Organizing

This research area examines organizing beyond traditional hierarchical and profit-driven models, exploring how actors create and sustain alternative organizational forms. Drawing on critical research approaches, we investigate how alternative organizing practices challenge conventional capitalist logics and create new possibilities for collective action.

Our work analyzes how these forms contribute to broader social transformation and reshape economic and social relations. Specific research topics include new forms of organizing, innovation in organizational design, informal and activist organizing, influencers as organizational actors, organizing beyond profit, real utopias, DAOs and blockchain-based organization, platforms and platform organizing in emerging markets.

This research area examines the diverse ways in which actors experiment with and enact organizing practices that differ from traditional organizational models. Our insights support practitioners, activists, and social innovators in designing and implementing alternative organizational structures that prioritize social impact, democratic participation, and sustainable value creation.
