Great start-ups don’t start with a brilliant idea, but with a real problem. In this session, you’ll learn methods for systematically identifying and evaluating problems, and using them to develop initial business ideas. Includes a hands-on exercise: 10 ideas in 30 minutes.

What will you take away?

  • A structured approach to thinking in terms of problems rather than solutions
  • Techniques such as Jobs-to-be-done and Pain Mapping in your toolkit
  • Your own initial ideas to work on further in the next sessions

Agenda

  • Problem Framing: Why good start-ups start with problems
  • Techniques: Jobs-to-be-done, Pain Mapping, Opportunity Spotting
  • Hands-on: Moonshot Game — Generate 10 ideas in 30 minutes
  • Group discussion: Which ideas have potential?
  • Take-home: Choose a problem to work on further
