Graduate Conference “Critical Studies”

10. Jun

Second Graduate Conference of the Master’s Programme “Critical Studies – Arts, Theory, History”

June 10, 2026, 10:15am – 5 pm, Kunstraum at Leuphana University and online via Zoom. The event is public.

Following the successful first graduate conference of the Master’s programme Critical Studies – Arts, Theory, History last summer, a second symposium will take place in June 2026. The event provides a platform for the presentation and discussion of ongoing and completed Master’s theses within the programme. As we approach the completion of our studies, this conference aims to create an opportunity to gain insight into the work of our fellow students and to engage in critical reflections on history, the present, and possible futures.

Eight alumni and current students will present their Master’s theses. Each presentation will be followed by time for questions and discussion:

  • Leonie Dieck: Homo Post Ludens. Eine kritische Betrachtung kulturwissenschaftlicher Theorien über das Spiel
  • Madeleine Häusler: Freundinnen in Aktion.
  • Sophie McCuen-KoytekIn the Wake of the (Counter)Archive. Exaqua: Ayesha Hameed’s Black Atlantis: Retrograde Futurism (2019) as Wake Work
  • Melanie Pieper: Subjekt zwischen Freiheit und KI
  • Alexa Vaagt: Zwischen “Noch-Nicht” und “Nicht-Mehr”: Zur Aktualität Ernst Blochs im 21. Jahrhundert
  • Paul Wallenhorst: Phantasmagorien der Automation. Das Nachleben der Automaten des 18. Jahrhunderts in der Moderne

All interested participants are warmly invited to attend. The programme and the link for online participation will be published soon on the IPK website.
