Joachim Herz Doctoral School of Law: Ph.D. Scholarships Available
2023-05-05
The School of Public Affairs at Leuphana University extents its range of postgraduate courses. The Joachim Herz Doctoral School of Law, funded by the Joachim Herz Foundation, starts its structured Ph.D. programme on Law and Transformation in the winter semester 2023/24, leading to the award of the doctoral degree (Dr.iur.) upon successful completion. The programme complements the cross-university research field of transformation with a legal perspective.
The doctoral programme deals with fundamental legal questions that arise from (social) transformations and - connected to this - from the transformation of law itself. Phenomena such as digitalisation, constant social change as a result of demographic changes, as well as various crises and conflicts, such as the Corona pandemic, the climate crisis, or the Ukraine war, pose immense challenges for the law. Against this backdrop, the Joachim Herz Doctoral School promotes research on the following topics:
Digitalisation/ Digitality and Law
Climate Change/Decarbonisation and Law
(Inter-)National Conflicts and Law
Law as a factor in transformations
To participate in this programme, the Joachim Herz Doctoral College provides nine Ph.D. scholarships (1,650 euros per month + 100 euros allowance) for the winter semester 2023/24. Participation without scholarship is equally possible.
Graduates of law (as well as of related social science disciplines) are invited to apply for places in the structured Ph.D. programme as well as for Ph.D. scholarships until 11 June 2023.
