Business studies professor Velte among the top German-speaking researchers
2024-12-17 Lüneburg. A current ranking by the magazine WirtschaftsWoche identifies Prof. Dr. Patrick Velte from Leuphana University Lüneburg as one of the best German-speaking researchers in the field of business administration. The expert in accounting, auditing and corporate governance is ranked 4th, or 3rd if only Germany is considered. This makes him not only the best-ranked scientist in Lower Saxony, but also in all of northern Germany. Prof. Dr. Rainer Lueg from Leuphana is also among the top 50 researchers, ranking 40th.
The ranking lists the economists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland who are currently the most active in research. It takes into account publications by business economists at professorial chairs, Fraunhofer and Max Planck Institutes (including doctoral students after completion of their doctoral theses). Almost 860 business administration journals worldwide were evaluated over a five-year period from 2020 to 2024. The data source is the bibliometric web portal Forschungsmonitoring, which is operated by the KOF Swiss Economic Institute at ETH Zurich.
WirtschaftsWoche has also compiled a ranking for the scientific life's work of economists from German-speaking countries. Three Leuphana scientists can be found there. Professor Patrick Velte is ranked 6th, Professor Michael Frese 42nd and Professor Lueg 157th. In the ranking of the strongest research-performing German-speaking universities in the field of business administration, Leuphana is among the top 25 and 17th in Germany.
