Monika Schoop

Monika E. Schoop is Professor of Musicology (especially Popular Music Studies). Her research focuses on music and memory culture, music and politics, (digital) technologies and transformations of the music industry, gender studies and music in the Philippines. She is currently leading the project “"Musical and auditive memory spaces: remembering the time of national socialism in Lower Saxony"” funded by the MWK Lower Saxony. Previously, she coordinated the research project “Sounding Memories: Nazi-Persecution and Anti-Nazi-Resistance in the Music of Contemporary Germany” together with Prof. Dr. Federico Spinetti, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Monika E. Schoop is Chair of the German-speaking branch of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM D-A-CH).

Thomas Sebastian Köhn

Thomas Sebastian Köhn is a musicologist with a focus on auditory memory culture. His research focuses on the analysis of popular music, sound studies, cultural memory studies and artistic research. He works as a research assistant in the project “Musical and Sonic Spaces of Memory in the Post-Witness Era”, where he researches the auditory level of memory culture in memorial sites, exhibitions and various social media, among other things. From 2019 to 2022, he worked on the research project “Sounding Memories: Nazi-Persecution and Anti-Nazi-Resistance in the Music of Contemporary Germany” and is currently doing his doctorate on Jewish memory culture in German hip hop. 

Lola Oberholzner

Lola Oberholzner is part of the research project as a student assistant and has been studying cultural studies and political science at Leuphana University in Lüneburg since October 2021. Their tasks include literature research, project PR and support for project events. Lola Oberholzner also assists with archive work at memorial sites.

Emma Luna Velasco Willems

Emma Luna Velasco Willems is part of the research project as a student assistant. She has been studying cultural studies and educational sciences at Leuphana University in Lüneburg since October 2021. In addition to literature research for the project, she supports the project PR and accompanies events of the project.
