Inhalt: This seminar focuses on three objectives: First, develop a good set of thoughts on the scientific OB-HR literature; second, understand, how scientific articles are written in this area and how you can participate in this endeavor, and third, I expect you to develop a study design during this course that you might want to perform and to publish at some point. You will be expected to read around 5 articles for every session (selected from foundational articles, from intervention studies, and from theory based studies, newest studies in this area). Each article will be discussed from the points of view: 1) what is its contribution? Do we agree that it is a valid contribution to the scientific literature? 2) What of HR and OB practices do we understand better after reading the article? 3) What could have been done better in the article? a) From the perspective of theory? b) From the perspective of methods (operationalization, scales, etc.) and statistics? c) From the perspective of a better fit of practice and theory? d) What could have been done better? 4) We want to understand what scientific model the authors have been using and how they have attempted to contribute to science? 5) How was it written? Where would I have written it differently and would it have been better? Topics will be in the areas of: 1) Fundamentals of work and organizations 2) Personality and aptitudes at work 3) Motivation and work 4) Emotions and work 5) Errors, biases, and decision making 6) Groups and Teams 7) Leadership 8) Conflicts and negotiation 9) Organizational culture 10) Training 11) Innovation 12) Entrepreneurship 13) National culture and work 14) Action theory
