Inhalt: This seminar takes a look at the social, political, and cultural themes in the United States in a turbulent time in American history from multiple perspectives, analyzing both high and popular culture, mainstream and marginalized voices. Students will reflect on the concepts of history, memory, and new journalism. We will discuss the highly acclaimed non-fiction novel "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote (1966). Then we will address memory studies and apply it to the Martin Luther King and the Vietnam Veteran memorials in Washington, D.C.
