Inhalt: The module is about entrepreneurship from a management and psychological perspective. The objective of the module is to increase students’ understanding about relevant theories and how these theories can be applied to the fields of entrepreneurship and business venturing. Entrepreneurship requires action by entrepreneurs. Therefore, adopting a management and psychological perspective offers useful and important insights that help students to better understand entrepreneurship and to put it into practice. The module covers different topics along the entrepreneurial process. Specifically, in the module we discuss theories from the entrepreneurial phases of “identifying business opportunities”, “preparing and launching a new business”, and “growth and exit”. The topics include: individual and social antecedents of business opportunity identification; cognitive, motivational and self-regulatory factors in the entrepreneurial process; dynamic processes in start-up teams; models of new venture growth; and exit strategies of entrepreneurs. Theories and theoretical models that we will discuss are, for example: Action-characteristic model of entrepreneurship, effectuation, bricolage & bootstrapping, ambidexterity, individual-opportunity nexus theory, and institutional perspectives. The theories will be discussed on the basis of practical projects and cases. The students will form entrepreneurial teams, initiate an entrepreneurial project, and discuss entrepreneurship cases within a problem-based learning approach. The students will use the theories to successfully proceed in the entrepreneurial process and to effectively cope with the challenges entrepreneurs face.
