Inhalt: Innovation prevails as a key driver for organizational success and economic growth. However, while innovation is one of the most commonly mentioned concepts in social science, unintended undesirable consequences and by-products of innovation are rarely studied so far. This is captured by the term ‘pro-innovation bias’, which describes the presumption that innovation inevitably is a desirable characteristic and that positive outcomes will invariably arise from all forms of innovation. The purpose of the seminar is to develop a more fully-fledged notion of innovation and innovation management in organizations. Students are encouraged to critically reflect and to advance the notions, models and common measurement of innovations as well as to elaborate on the ambivalent or even negative predictors, by-products and outcomes of innovation processes

Inhalt: Starting an own business is an interesting challenge for many students. It all starts with the idea. But even if one already has a rough idea of what the start-ups should deal with, it is not always clear to many founders how the individual steps from idea-finding to implementation turn out. In this seminar, the students develop their own business idea in small groups, learn through surveys on campus how the idea arrives at the "customer" and then jointly write a business plan about their company.
