Inhalt: Die Veranstaltung dient der Vorbereitung auf das Manfred Lachs Moot Court - einen renommierten internationalen Wettbewerb im Raumfahrtrecht. Nähere Informationen zum Wettbewerb: http://www.ils/web.org/lachsmoot/ Die Veranstaltung vermittelt sowohl theoretische Kenntnisse als auch praktische Fähigkeiten. Es wird intensiv das Völkerrecht mit Fokus auf das Raumfahrtrecht behandelt. Die Studierenden werden die Kenntnisse des Völkerrechts praktisch umsetzen, in dem sie eine Klageschrift (laut den Anforderungen des Manfred Lachs Moot Court) für den Kläger und den Angeklagten verfassen. Die Arbeit an den Schriftsätzen erfolgt in Teams.

Inhalt: Moot court: Description and Organisation A moot court is a mock trial that exposes students to an area of law which they are required to learn and use as a basis for training their skills of argument. In moots, students learn to argue on behalf of one or other of the parties to the dispute. It is an exciting exercise that involves much thought and team collaboration. It is a great way to develop English language skills and leanr about law in the context of a practical dispute between parties. This semester, the students registerd for class are to be introduced to various types of moot courts The course combines lectures and practical sessions, work with a larger audience and work in groups. The first 3 sessions (see the weekly schedule) will be held in the form of introductory lectures covering theoretical questions of mooting, including recapitulation of main steps of case solving, main issues of preparation of written memoranda and oral presentation. Five important international moot court competitions will be presented to the students: Central and Eastern European Moot Court (CEEMC) in European law, Willem C. Vis Moot Court in international commercial arbitration, Philip C. Jessup Moot Court in international public law, ELSA moot court competition in WTO law, and Manfred Lachs Moot Court in Space Law. This course shall help to identify a group of students to form a University Leuphana team to enter for official participation in the Manfred Lachs Moot Court in Space Law 2015 at the European regional rounds. Manfred Lachs is about the disciplines of public international law, the law of outer space and modern technology. A schedule of work and study is attached under materials.
