Analyse emotionaler Gesichtsausdrücke in Forschung und Praxis (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Lea Boecker

Termin:
wöchentlich | Montag | 14:15 - 15:45 | 01.04.2019 - 05.07.2019 | C 16.223 Seminarraum
Einzeltermin | Mo, 15.04.2019, 12:45 - Mo, 15.04.2019, 14:10 | C 16.129 Seminarraum

Group Research Project: Psychology of Entrepreneurship (Seminar)

Inhalt: In this group research project, the students design and implement a research project in the field of the psychology of entrepreneurship. The course has five parts: (1) discussing relevant theories in the field of psychology of entrepreneurship, (2) identifying a research gap and formulating a research question, (3) designing and implementing a study, (4) analyzing the data, and (5) writing a research paper.

Inhalt: Crowd-based organizing gains relevance in a digital economy. Using web-based technologies, crowd-based organizing is about mobilizing a large number of distributed actors (i.e. crowd) and structuring their activities to achieve a specific purpose. Platform-hosted crowds engage in a large variety of productive activities. Consider following examples: Prominent business-to-customer examples include crowd-based ride hailing (e.g. Uber, Lyft) and accommodation (e.g. Airbnb, HomeAway); as exemplary business-to-business cases, consider creative industries, specifically crowdsourced graphic design (e.g. 99designs, DesignCrowd) and crowd-produced stock photo (e.g., iStock, Shutterstock). Further¬more, crowds provide capital and labour: as for the former, so-called crowdfunding ranges from invest¬ment to donation (e.g. Kickstarter, Indiegogo, CircleUp); as for the latter, crowds providing unspecific services (e.g. MTurk, Clickworker) act as a digital workforce that, upon request, executes simple tasks, specified and paid for by individual or corporate customers. Surprisingly, we still know little how these platforms operate, let alone, comparative studies across several platforms. This research seminar seeks to fill this gap. To being able to participate in this joint research effort, students will first, familiarize themselves with relevant theoretical and methodological literature. Following a joint exploration of a platform in class and in an exercise, students will then explore and analyze a platform (and its ecosystem) on their own.
