Einführung in das internationale und europäische Umwelt- und Energierecht (Seminar)

Inhalt: Die Veranstaltung dient dazu, einen Überblick über das Rechtsgebiet insgesamt und vertiefte Einblicke in einzelne aktuelle Fragen wie internationale Klimaschutzverträge, Kohleausstieg, Energiecharta, internationale Artenschutzverträge etc. zu erhalten. Das Seminar vor Ort soll durch eine zweitägige Exkursion nach Brüssel, Straßburg oder Genf ergänzt werden. Aufgrund der Coronavirus-Pandemie sollen die Lehrveranstaltungen im Sommersemester in neuer, virtueller Form durchgeführt werden. Diese Lehrveranstaltung wird sich wie folgt verändern: Für die Lehre bis zum Ende des Kontaktverbotes soll der vorgesehene Plan beibehalten werden. Zentrale Informationen bzgl. der Lehrveranstaltung werden über mystudy kommuniziert. Die Veranstaltung soll über Video, nach Möglichkeit ZOOM, durchgeführt werden, und zwar in Form digitaler Präsenzveranstaltungen in Videocalls. Die Veranstaltung findet live und damit synchron statt, und zwar zu der angegebenen Zeit. Bei einer Aufhebung des Kontaktverbotes wird die Lehre in Form analoger Präsenzlehre fortgesetzt. Es bleibt grds. bei der bisherigen Prüfungsleistung. Nach Möglichkeit soll das Referat im Rahmen der Exkursion gehalten werden. Kann wegen der Corona-Krise keine Exkursion stattfinden, soll der mdl. Teil nur in Form eines 5-minütigen Impulsvortrags erfolgen.

International Environmental Law (Seminar)

Inhalt: What is international environmental law? How can international law address the different environmental challenges that we are facing globally? This course is a seminar on the role of law in the management of international environmental issues. The emphasis will be on understanding the fundamental principles of international environmental law (IEL), focusing on the technical and practical aspects of international environmental law and policy. The course will be instructured around different themes: After a general introduction to International Law - International Environmental Law (General Part) – the course will discuss different subfields of International Environmental Law (Special Part)

International Environmental Law (Exercise) (Seminar)

Inhalt: How can case law contribute to the development of international environmental law? What is the contribution of judicial processes for the protection of the environment? This course is directly connected to the Seminar on International Environmental Law (IEL), and will cover the case law of the different modules that will be instructed in the seminar, from the introduction to international public law, to the special part of IEL. Specifically, we will explore the role of international courts in protecting environmental commons. In each session there will be at least one case study dealing with an important current issue, such as pollution, endangered species, or water disputes between neighboring nations.
