Inhalt: This lecture provides an introduction to the methodological approach of scientific psychology. The lecture introduces the logical basis of scientific theories, hypothesis generation and testing, the key elements of study design, data interpretation, statistical foundations such as different scale levels, measures of central tendency and dispersion, as well as covariance and correlation. The lecture consists of a mix of the standard face-to-face format, as well as asynchronous lecture videos accompanied by weekly, face-to-face Q&A sessions. An overview over the lecture format and the exam will be presented in the first session on October 21st, 2021. Furthermore, it will provide you with hands-on practice for some of the basic statistical procedures that are discussed in the accompanying lecture. Please bring your Laptop computer so that you can participate in the exercises.
