Gefühle als Atmosphären – (Neue) Phänomenologie (Seminar)

Inhalt: „Die Sachen selbst müssen wir befragen. Zurück zur Erfahrung, zur Anschauung, die unseren Worten allein Sinn und vernünftiges Recht geben kann. ... Aber was sind denn die Sachen, und was ist das für eine Erfahrung, auf welche wir ... zurückgehen müssen?“ (Husserl, Philosophie als strenge Wissenschaft, Logos 1, 1910/11, S. 305.) Phänomenologie gilt als eine der wichtigsten und einflussreichsten philosophischen Strömungen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Als wegweisend sind die umfangreichen Studien Edmund Husserls (1859-1938) anzusehen. Schon allein in Anbetracht der Fülle und des Facettenreichtums seiner Arbeiten ist kaum möglich zu benennen, was denn 'die' Phänomenologie nun eigentlich ist. Häufig wird auf die Forderung ‚Zurück zu den Sachen selbst!‘, die Husserl an verschiedenen Stellen ausformuliert hat, zurückverwiesen. Womit dann geklärt sein soll, was denn nun Phänomenologie eigentlich sei: Ein Rückgang auf die Sachen selbst. Doch was sind die Sachen? Was heißt Rückgang? Schon bei Husserl finden wir keine einfachen Antworten auf diese Fragen und auch die folgenden Generationen (u.a. Sartre, Beauvoir, Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, Arendt) bieten kein einheitliches Bild, sondern ein dichtes Geflecht unterschiedlicher Fragestellungen, Perspektiven und Themen. Besonders vor diesem Hintergrund verwundert es, dass Hermann Schmitz (1928-2021) eine ‚Neue Phänomenologie‘ proklamiert. Ob und inwiefern sein Ansatz ‚neu‘ ist, vermag das Seminar nicht zu beantworten. Stattdessen werden wir uns wichtigen Grundannahmen und Positionen der phänomenologischen Denktradition zuwenden, wobei sowohl sog. Klassiker als auch jüngere Positionen zur Sprache kommen sollen. Dreh- und Angelpunkt bildet das Thema ‚Gefühle‘, an dem sich eine spezifisch phänomenologische Zugangsweise nachvollziehen lässt.
Prose as a philosophical ressource: Reading Balestrini (Seminar)

Inhalt: The events of 1968 - student uprisings, strikes, a new wave of feminist thought etc. - shaped the political west for years to come. It also informed critical thought. Especially the theoretical complex we call Italian thought (Chiesa; Gentili) was shaped by a long '68. It lasted for over a decade created new forms of social struggle and influenced the political landscape for years to come. Whilst we usually think of authors such as Negri, Virno or Guattari when we want to grasp the influence of these events on our thought, I want to suggest another way. With the idea of prose as a materialistic artefact informing us of history, disrcursive changes and cultural phenomena I want to discuss the most famous chronist of the decade as a source of philosophical (and political) thought. The work of Nanni Balestrini not only potraits the historic situation but allows us to revisit the influence it had on peoples lifes. We will focus on his text "The Unseen" - which you should prepare in advance. Whilst his more famous "The golden Horde" is a historic chronic, "The Unseen" is a novel following a nameless character through the political upheavel to its tragic end. Our focus will be to first understand the text as a historic artefact, but secondly and more importantly to trace lines of thought, political ideas, feminist ideas and the becoming of autonomia through the prosaic text. Prose is not only an artistic expression, it is in itself a ressource for our philosophical work and needs to be read as such. How do we do this? This will be our challenge.
