Empirical and Creative Stream (Kolloquium)

Dozent/in: Vera Tollmann

Termin:
14-täglich | Donnerstag | 09:45 - 13:15 | 10.04.2023 - 07.07.2023 | HMS 211/215

Inhalt: This course is recommended for students planning to develop an empirical and/or creative research project (bachelor thesis) on digital media. During the course of the semester, students can present ideas, work-in-progress and nearly-final exposés. If you think of combining the theoretical and creative streams, this is no problem to attend since the four streams are not clear-cut but instead offer orientation. In the course of the colloquium, we will deal with the challenges of scientific writing. First, we will deal with the question of how exactly empirical and creative research can be conducted in the field of digital media, discussing different scientific (activity theory, (auto-)ethnography, visual studies...) and creative methods (video, artwork, website...). In the further course of the colloquium, we will deal with the individual steps of project planning, the research and search for suitable research literature and other sources, as well as helpful strategies for constructing a scientific argument and the preparation of a draft manuscript. This is a 10 CP module - if you took your assessment in the other 5CP course, you will need to take part without taking the assessment.
