Inhalt: The course deals with three steps of the research process: (1) designing a meaningful study, (2) obtaining credible and trustworthy results, and (3) publishing the results. In particular, the course covers the following topics: the value of meaningful theoretical contributions and research designs, the principles of the open science framework and additional good practices of science, and the skill of crafting a scientific presentation and article. The students learn the most recent principles concerning the topics and get the opportunity to apply the principles to their own research projects. The students review and evaluate their own work as well as the work of their peers in the class.

Inhalt: Every machine and test rig must undergo testing and certification processes before it is used in practice. Machinery manufacturers must ensure their products fulfill essential safety requirements in relevant directives before signing the declaration of conformity and placing the product on the European Union market. There are mandatory requirements to involve a notified body in the design and manufacturing process. The course refers to the description and practical application of CE certification and safety requirements for machines and electrical devices in European Union market. In frame of the course, students will get familiar with stages of CE certification process and required documentation for it. Among stages it is worth mentioning the conformity assessment (IEC) and its participants, organization of directives, requirements specified in directives, required technical documentation. Additionally, there is the reference to the safety in machines (risk assessment and its reduction) and elements of Safety-Related Parts of Control Systems. The course provides the required basics for the participants dealing with the manufacturing processes, quality assurance & control, safety of machinery, robot programming and process engineering.
