Einzeltermin | Di, 05.03.2019, 09:00 - Di, 05.03.2019, 18:00 | C 14.201 Seminarraum
Einzeltermin | Mi, 06.03.2019, 09:00 - Mi, 06.03.2019, 18:00 | C 14.201 Seminarraum
Einzeltermin | Do, 07.03.2019, 09:00 - Do, 07.03.2019, 18:00 | C 14.201 Seminarraum
Inhalt: This seminar is an introduction to undertaking independent qualitative research. It is intended to develop the mindset and skills required to think through, design, and complete a qualitative research project. Students will explore the principles underlying qualitative inquiry and acquire a general understanding of the theoretical positions that underpin qualitative methodology. This seminar provides training in core methods and clarifies these in relation to broader qualitative methodologies/approaches within which they may be utilized. Followingly, applying aspects of qualitative research practice will be emphasized. Qualitative research often involves an iterative process. We will focus on four steps required for this process: design, data collection, data analysis, and presentation of results. Each of the steps will comprise a lecture and group work with hands-on activities. The seminar begins with features and purpose of qualitative research, design considerations and qualitative data collection methods, with an emphasis on interviews and focus groups as examples. It follows with analysis and interpretation in qualitative research, with a special focus on grounded theory coding. This seminar also touches upon complex questions of ethics, validity and reliability in qualitative approaches and provides a foundational knowledge for mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative) research. At the end of the seminar a feedback evaluation form will be handed in.
Einführung in die statistische Auswertung mit R (Seminar)
Dozent/in: Felix May, Henrik Wehrden, Heike Zimmermann
Termin:
Einzeltermin | Mo, 18.03.2019, 08:30 - Mi, 20.03.2019, 18:00 | C 14.201 Seminarraum
Inhalt: This class offers an introduction into statistical analysis with the open source program R. The focus of this class is the analysis of ecological data, however students from other disciplines are also welcome. We start with simple tests (e.g. Pearson), linear models (e.g. correlations, regressions). Furthermore, we give an introduction to advanced modelling (Ancova, Anova, mixed effect models, non-linear models), as well as autocorrelation effects and multivariate analyses. In addition the class focuses on the graphical illustration of the results.
Mixed methods (Seminar)
Dozent/in: Sally Russel
Termin:
Einzeltermin | Di, 26.02.2019, 08:30 - Do, 28.02.2019, 18:00 | C 1.312 Seminarraum
Inhalt: This workshop will explore best practice in working with, and combining different forms of data analysis for interdisciplinary, sustainability research. This is a participatory workshop that is designed to be a joined learning experience. Workshop leaders will facilitate experience sharing, structured learning, and problem-solving exercises. No previous experience of using multiple data types is needed, but a willingness to learn and be an active participant is essential.
