Inhalt: Bloomsday - June 16th - the day on which the action in James Joyce's novel 'Ulysses' took place in 1904, is celebrated every year in Dublin and in a number of other places, including Lüneburg. In 2010 Bloomsday in Lüneburg will organised by students from the Leuphana University and the event will be developed and prepared in a Projektseminar in SoSe 2010 (Blockseminar). The purpose of this meeting at the end of the WS 2009/10 is to find out who is interested in becoming involved, and to toss around a few ideas. We will meet in the Heinrich-Heine-Haus (Am Ochsenmarkt 1), where the Bloomsday event will take place in June 2010. Anyone who who has read Ulysses (in English or German) and wants to help create a stimulating cultural event is very welcome to come along. And you should start thinking now about what you could contribute to bLÜmsday 2010.
Englisch/FSZ: Short Fiction in the 21st Century (Seminar)

Inhalt: In this survey course, students will read and discuss a variety of short stories and short short stories by well-known male and female writers as well as up-and-coming authors. Students will gain practice analyzing the texts published after the year 2000 in terms of their literary, historical, and cultural significance. The seminar will take a deeper look at the short story collection, Fearless Warriors by Drew Hayden Taylor (Ojibway from the Curve Lake First Nations, Canada), who will serve as a writer-in-residence at Leuphana University of Lüneburg for a week this semester.
