Gerechtigkeit 5: Governing natural resource conflicts in a global context (Seminar)
Dozent/in: Clara-Sophie Baschant, Ines Dombrowsky
Termin:
14-täglich | Freitag | 12:15 - 15:45 | 24.10.2025 - 30.01.2026 | C 12.111 Seminarraum
Inhalt: The effects of climate change and environmental degradation increasingly impact people’s lives across the globe. A decline in the availability of and the degradation of natural resources (water, forests, soil or fish resources) can lead to local, regional and international conflicts. The climate-security and the water-energy-food-ecosystem nexus are prominent concepts within science and international organizations. They show how basic human securities, including water, energy and food security as well as societal relations are affected by environmental change. In this course, we will focus on natural resource conflicts and on how governments and individuals can address them. Through the analysis of different case studies, you will get an understanding of what governance factors are of importance for conflict management. Final group projects may incorporate local and/or global perspectives.
