Inhalt: Managing change means that we are interested in how people as individuals and in (for-profit and not-for-profit) organizations deal, can deal, or should deal with change that affects them. People take a central role in dealing with change. At the same time, there are circumstances, situational factors, rules & norms, and past events that shape decisions and actions. In this course we will apply frameworks on change and change management to the case of PortSkill 4.0. The project PortSkill 4.0 is about the digital transformation of work in the German ports, e.g. the Port of Hamburg, which involves the development of new competences, promoting beneficial change and tackling problems. The digital transformation of port work involves, among others, automated container cranes, drones and autonomous mobile and other robots, as well as Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) applications. Previously manual work may thus (partially) become automated, potentially resulting in far-reaching socio-economic consequences. The aim of this course is to develop a change management template that can be used to implement a change process, taking into account technological developments and socio-economic issues, in order to guide the transformation process in a sustainable manner. Students with a more technical background and with a more managerial background will work together to create the template and test its implementation. The coursework involves desk research, data collection on site (in Hamburg), analysis, synthesis, and presentation of the results.

Inhalt: Why a Course on Citizen Entrepreneurship? The Citizen Entrepreneurship course response to critical needs of our times, from environmental issues, poverty, inequalities, economic growth, and social development. The course is designed to examine novel and experimental ways in engaging citizens with the entrepreneurial process of researching and developing new ideas and actions with which to seek solutions to major issues in their local regions. Meaning and Scope of the topic of CE CE means engagement with and the involvement of citizens in different types of new venture creation with which to resolve critical issues in the economy and in society. These issues could cover, inter-alia for example, climate change and clean energy usage, creating healthy living spaces and habitats, reducing crime, working as stakeholders for business and social ventures, generating and owning new data for local employment, local purchasing in local environments, and creating safe, collective spaces in social media. The process of engagement with citizens varies from idea creation through to action research and implementation stages of both commercial and community-based activities. Through such involvement citizens exercise collective efficacy as users, consumers, producers, and voters in their communities. This in turn can help to reduce the tensions between private, public, and social enterprise and the differentiated values they generate. Instead of a fixation on entrepreneurship as a vehicle for economic growth, CE assists in cultivating the practice of entrepreneurship as a collective tool for economic, environmental, and social transformation. Theory Building and Research Application Theory and Key Concepts The study of CE involves an understanding and articulation of three key concepts –a ‘Commons’ based approach to entrepreneurship, the idea of innovation as a social good, and the use of a Capabilities Approach to economic, personal, and social development. Using key theories that underpin these concepts, students will be: • Introduced to the CE phenomenon in practice in different parts of the world (with a focus on Europe) through selected case studies drawn from recent research. • Supported in developing a critical, analytical capability with which to study the cases, the outcomes, and their implications; and • Work towards the co-curation of a forum for public engagement with the subject and the potential launch of new CE projects and activities or the promotion of existing narratives in different environments. Participants will use the content above to work through specific case studies offered to them at the start of the course. A live case study will be used as the basis for developing ideas for the application of research for CE engagement. Research Epistemology, Objectives and Design Two types of related approaches to research design will be introduced. These approaches will be drawn from Participatory and Action Learning and from Citizen Science research. Both will entail students: • Learning about direct participation in projects through research and testing ex-ante and post-hoc, both the value and outcomes of such research. • Understanding how to engage project and community agents (citizens) in research activities and functions. • Using both approaches to inculcate good research practice based on experimentation and innovation.

Entrepreneurial project (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Jan Tänzler

Termin:
wöchentlich | Montag | 18:15 - 19:45 | 17.10.2022 - 03.02.2023 | C 40.152 Seminarraum

Inhalt: This course is about working in small teams on a task for a medium-sized company. The problem of an electronics store in Lüneburg is that the company is not perceived enough by end customers as a location for telecommunications contracts. You and your team are to find out why many potential customers seem to be unaware of the company, where customers buy the contract products instead (local stationary competition, online...), and what approaches there are to optimise.

Gründungscamp Business Modeling (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Reinhard Schulte

Termin:
Einzeltermin | Mo, 10.10.2022, 10:00 - Mo, 10.10.2022, 12:00 | Online-Veranstaltung | Zoom Meetingraum
Einzeltermin | Fr, 14.10.2022, 10:00 - So, 16.10.2022, 18:00 | extern | hit Technopark Harburg
