IBAE Bachelor Colloquium (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Sarah Stanske

Termin:
14-täglich | Montag | 12:15 - 13:45 | 06.04.2020 - 10.07.2020 | C 6.321 Seminarraum

Inhalt: The colloquium is suitable for IBEA students in the 6th semester wishing to write a thesis on organization theory or strategic management. In the course of the semester we will develop initial research ideas and subsequently refine these ideas. Due to the Coronavirus, this course will take place online, using the zoom platform. Please look into our forum for more information regarding the zoom platform. Please do so before the first session. An online participation enables us to remain in time and to ensure that students can still work on their Bachelor's thesis without being present at the Leuphana. Students will be guided through the process of scientific research and academic writing. Particularly, we will cover aspects such as: -Coming up with a research idea -Evaluating research ideas -Searching for relevant literature in databases -Finding an appropriate research design -Deriving theoretical contributions To do so, the course offers a mixture of student presentations and advice from the lecturer. Students will have the opportunity to present first ideas in a safe environment. In the course of the class, a second presentation will be done by students which will give them the opportunity to embed first hints and to present the improved research idea again in a safe environment. Students will also team-up and prepare a co-presentation and a short written document evaluating the team-partner's work. This will ensure that students understand the quality criteria used for their own theses later on. The lecturer will support this process by pointing out common mistakes made by students in the past.

How do I develop an interesting research question? 3 Which research design is best suited to answer my research question? 4. What is the best way to proceed when researching literature? 5. How do I structure my argumentation effectively? 6. How can I improve my scientific writing? 7. How do I structure my project "Bachelor thesis" most efficiently? In addition, the Bachelor's colloquium offers students the opportunity to present their research projects in a protected space and thus receive early feedback from students and lecturers to improve their own work.

You will learn how a focus on practices helps understand entrepreneurship as achieved through the everyday, material and embodied practices of doing and making. You will become acquainted with relevant practice-based studies in different areas of entrepreneurship research (e.g. social entrepreneurship, gender & entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship, cultural entrepreneurship). You will practice with developing research questions and ethnographic methods. Finally, you will engage in writing exercises that will help you turn your research interests into a bachelor thesis proposal that meets the standard for English academic writing.
