The Dividual. Seminar and exhibition workshop with Joshua Simon (Seminar)

Inhalt: This seminar aims to help us familiarize ourselves with the notion of the Dividual and to allow us to organize an exhibition around it for Kunstraum Lüneburg. Therefore, the class will operate like a workshop at times, with the extended reading list operating as an archive of references. We will proceed through the semester in parallel movements of research and production.

Theories of Curating (Seminar)

Inhalt: Applying a variety of fields of knowledge, the seminar will look at exhibitions - curatorial products and gestures - as cosmograms; conceptual maps of the world as it appears to itself. Through historical and theoretical interrogation, the seminar visits key moments and ideas that constitute the order which contemporary art curating embodies, reflects, demonstrates, and performs. This seminar involves close readings of a variety of sources and reference materials that inform curatorial protocols, forms, and practices. As the art exhibition makes attainable intricate structures of many-body-assembled which rely on intensity and distribution, we will name these constellations and introduce a variety of considerations – from the mesoscopic, to metastability, and metabolic synchronization – to explore their meaning.
