Inhalt: This workshop explores how to transform your academic research into creative outputs beyond conventional articles and book chapters. You will learn ideation techniques and creative processes to conceptualize engaging formats for your research that foster interdisciplinary connections and public engagement. These formats could be exhibitions, podcasts, interactive media, creative writing, or other public-facing projects. Through hands-on activities and case studies primarily drawn from the field of curating (which today extends beyond traditional exhibitions to include participatory events, immersive installations, audio tours, etc.), you'll learn to select suitable formats for presenting your research, test ideas through prototypes, and develop effective ways to communicate with diverse audiences. On the final day of the three-day workshop, you will present and receive peer feedback on a proposal to showcase your research in a creative output.

Inhalt: This course is aimed at scholars in legal science (and related fields of study) at an early stage of their careers; mostly doctoral candidates. The objective of the course is to provide participants with necessary skills to help establish yourselves in the legal academic world. We aim to provide you with knowledge and skills on how to apply for and participate in academic conferences, how to write scientific publications and publish them in academic journals and books, and more popular dissemination platforms, as well as to network with other academics and partners from practice, government and industry. In this way, the course will help you to develop your academic leadership skills, your research and ideas in a competitive academic environment. We also aim to go beyond this, however, by offering you the toolkit for connecting yourselves with a range of partners necessary to support your career development and research (such as experts from NGOs) and to share skills necessary to develop networks for building an international profile and continuing your career with significant social and scientific impact.

This block course is intended to help you develop the skills to prepare an article for an international journal. There will be a mixture of activities, including a minimum of ‘lecturing’, but mostly a range of interactive exercises. Some of the themes covered will include (i) structuring a paper, (ii) structuring a paragraph, (iii) writing concise sentences, (iv) matching word count and content, (v) writing an informative abstract, (vi) writing a cover letter to a journal, and (vii) dealing with revisions and rejections. The course will draw on examples from the natural sciences and social sciences, with an emphasis on sustainability-related topics. However, similar writing principles apply to other disciplines, and students from all faculties are encouraged to apply. All communication related to the course will be in English.
