Organizing in Times of Crisis
This research area addresses how organizations respond to navigate, and transform through crises and disruptions. Our research investigates organizing practices and their transformation during periods of crisis, contributing knowledge about organizational adaptation and resilience in turbulent times. We examine how organizations manage disruption and build capacity for transformation across various contexts.
Specific research topics include crisis as disruption and the contemporary phenomenon of polycrisis, characterized by interdependent and simultaneous crises, the management of tensions and intersectionalities in terms of vulnerability, organizing across different spheres such as administration, companies, ecovillages, and NGOs, how everyday practices shift in times of crisis, new forms of crisis management and decision- making, resilience-building, and the development of transformational knowledge.
This research is particularly relevant for understanding organizational adaptation in an era of systemic instability. Our findings equip organizations and policymakers with practical knowledge for building resilience, managing complex crises, and creating opportunities for positive change.
