On 9-10 May 2024, Tobias Lenz is organizing an international conference entitled “Legitimacy in International Relations” at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. The conference brings together international researchers from eight countries to discuss the processes, dynamics and influences of legitimacy and legitimation in international politics. The conference marks the conclusion of a research group funded by the Leibniz Association on the topic of “Legitimation Strategies of Regional Organizations (LegRO)”, which over the past six years has examined the justifications given by representatives of 28 regional organizations from all over the world for their organisation’s right to rule.
