Promotion

Promotion of junior researchers

The Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) at Leuphana University Lüneburg strongly supports the promotion of junior researchers. It provides doctoral students with an excellent environment for their academic training. As members of the Leuphana Graduate School, CSD’s doctoral researchers participate in interdisciplinary classes on research methods and have access to a variety of scholarships that cover their living expenses, as well as their research activities. In the weekly Tuesday Seminars, CSD’s doctoral students discuss their dissertation project with research associates and professors.

Moreover, the CSD organizes academic events for doctoral students and supports their professional networking. From 2013 to 2015, international PhD students and leading scholars from around the world will meet in Lüneburg for participating in the annual DAAD-ECPR Summer Schools on “Political Parties and Democracy”. Moreover, within the framework of the Northern German Network for Democracy Research (NND), the CSD organizes annual PhD workshops for junior researchers from NND partner institutions. Furthermore, the CSD cooperates with Bremen International Graduate School for the Social Sciences (BIGSSS) in the field of PhD training.

The following pages provide information on doctoral studies at the CSD, initiatives and events for PhD students organized by the CSD, as well as the research profile of CSD doctoral students.
