Unveiling Sustainability: Data Visualization with Tableau (Group 2) (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Jorge Gustavo Rodríguez Aboytes

Termin:
wöchentlich | Freitag | 10:15 - 11:45 | 14.10.2024 - 31.01.2025 | C 14.203 Seminarraum

Inhalt: Data Visualization is basically telling a story from data. Data hide many patterns and stories. Your job is to reveal them and tell the world. This seminar equips first-semester bachelor students from all disciplines with the skills to visualize and communicate sustainability data effectively. No prior programming experience is required. The seminar will introduce the fundamental principles of data visualization and its crucial role in conveying complex sustainability issues. Students will gain proficiency in using Tableau, a user-friendly data visualization software, to manipulate datasets, create impactful charts, and design compelling dashboards. Throughout the seminar, students will focus on real-world sustainability challenges, learning how to analyze relevant data and translate insights into clear and concise visualizations. The capstone project of this seminar involves creating a dashboard that showcases the analysis of a chosen sustainability database. This project-based approach allows students to apply their newfound knowledge and present their findings in a meaningful way. You can make use of this seminar to prepare visualization of your data from your DATAx and responsability module seminars. I will give you access to a powerful (and quite expensive) software called Tableau. I will set the seminar and materials in our virtual Tableau classroom, and you can use the license of this software as long as you are enrolled in this seminar. Having the skills of data visualizations and using this kind of software will help you not only to get interest interships, but giving the powerful tool of story telling which is needed in every domain and career.
