Bachelor Colloquium: Business in Society (Seminar)

Inhalt: This colloquium offers students the opportunity to learn about thesis writing. The colloquium is designed for students who aim to focus on topics broadly related to responsible, ethical, or sustainable management and entrepreneurship, and who aim to apply qualitative research methods in their theses. Students will also learn about the process of designing, conducting and writing qualitative research in the field of business in society. The colloquium will combine a mixture of short introductory lectures on core steps in the process of designing, conducting and writing a thesis, combined with interactive sessions, in which students will present their (early-stage) thesis ideas. The colloquium also offers opportunities for peer-to-peer support, which supports that students successfully conclude their thesis. Presentation slots for student presentations will be organized at the beginning of the colloquium.

Bachelor Colloquium: Research on Business, Organization & Entrepreneurship from Communicative Perspectives (Kolloquium)

Dozent/in: Ellen Nathues

Inhalt: In this colloquium for IBAE students in the 6th semester, students will be made familiar with the processes of scientific research and academic writing, with a particular focus on qualitative methods and communication perspectives to organizational, management, or entrepreneurship research (such as using interaction or conversation analytical approaches). Guidance will be offered in how to find a research gap and develop a focused research question, how to search for and read literature, how to make coherent methodological choices, how to communicate findings, and how to discuss insights with regard to prior research. Tips, tricks, and exercises on writing will also be performed. The colloquium combines presentations and insights from the lecturer as well as student presentations of their work-in-progress bachelor theses.

Inhalt: Themenfindung, -konkretisierung und -strukturierung, Literatursuche und -auswertung, Zeitplanung, Bewertungskriterien einer Bachelorarbeit, Klärung allgemeiner Fragen. Insgesamt sind vier Blocktermine vorgesehen: 1. Termin: Auseinandersetzung mit den Anforderungen des wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens 2. - 4. Termin: Präsentation und Diskussion der laufenden Bachelorarbeitsprojekte.

Bachelor-Kolloquium - Marketing, Wirtschaftspsychologie & Human-Computer-Interaction (Seminar)

Inhalt: Das Bachelorkolloquium soll Studierende bei der Erstellung ihrer Abschlussarbeit begleiten und hilfreiche Hinweise zum Anfertigen einer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit bieten. Zu Beginn des Seminars werden Tipps zur Themenfindung, zur Ableitung einer Forschungsfrage, zur Literaturrecherche und zum generellen Ablauf einer quantitativ-empirischen Forschungsarbeit vermittelt. Im weiteren Verlauf der Veranstaltung präsentieren die Studierenden den Stand ihrer Arbeit und erhalten in einer anschließenden Diskussion konstruktives Feedback zur Forschungsfrage, zum geplanten Studiendesign oder den angewandten statistischen Methoden. Das Seminar richtet sich insbesondere an Studierende, die eine quantitativ-empirische Abschlussarbeit in den Themenfeldern Marketing, Wirtschaftspsychologie, Digitale Kommunikation, Informationssysteme oder Human-Computer-Interaction anfertigen möchten.

They will receive guidance on how to narrow down their problem focus, how to search for pertinent literatures, how to do key methodological choices, and how to discuss their findings and theoretical contributions against the background of the existing literature. The colloquium will feature a mix of useful tips&tricks from the lecturer as well as student presentations of their work-in-progress bachelor theses.
