Inhalt: Das Kolloquium richtet sich an Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden aller sozialwissenschaftlichen Forschungsrichtungen mit interdisziplinärer Ausrichtung. Aufgabe ist es, vor allem eine fundierte Problemskizze zu erarbeiten (Erkenntnis leitende Fragestellung > These). Daraus ergibt sich das Bezugswissen. Gegebenenfalls gilt ein weiterer Schwerpunkt den anzuwendenden Methoden und der Auswertung von Ergebnissen. Die Beteiligten stellen reihum ihre Projekte vor. Das Plenum beteiligt sich in Form von Kommentaren und Vorschlägen zur Bearbeitung. Anstehende Präsentationen in Doktoranden-Kolloquien werden vorbereitet. Die AG FW erörtert darüber hinaus gesellschaftliche Zusammenhänge.
Food security and biodiversity conservation (Kolloquium)

Inhalt: Doctoral students will use a social-ecological systems approach to examine the interconnected challenges of improving food security and conserving biodiversity. These challenges will be examined and discussed from multiple perspectives -- including institutional, livelihoods and ecological perspectives. Students will regularly present their work and engage in discussions with other participants and more senior researchers.

Inhalt: We meet once a month, generally on the second Thursday of each month at 8.30 am (sometimes 9.00 a.m.) in room C13 106 to discuss a) either progress in specific projects of participants) or b) key papers in ecology and sustainability. One person generally presents some aspect of their current work (this can range from an experimental design to results or discussion of approaches or interpretations of data) or a key paper (or sometimes two if two complementary or contrasting viewpoints are the focus) as a powerpoint or on the board and leads the discussion about this topic or paper. To make sure discussion occurs with all participants we are fostering the approach that each participant reports what they have derived from reading each particular paper. We will also include discussions about how the writing of the paper contributes or not to transmitting the message in the paper. Nota Bene: the exact day of the week and time can change even if generally we do meet on Thursday mornings once a month. This depends on events and people's availabilities but we send out reminders about these changes to all registered participants via email as well as now via MyStudy. TAKE NOTE: As of this winter semester we are digitalising the PhD course as well, so all PhD students need to register via MyStudy and from within MyStudy in QIS for this Kolloqium (before the 13 th Nov) so the University can easily assess who took part to work out who gets the credit points. To get the credit points you need to attend 3 sessions within one semester and present your own work/or a paper once. If there are too many requests for presenting slots we will have two people presenting per session date.
