Applications of Psychology in Society: Evaluation of Digital Media in Expatriation, a Cutting-edge Project (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Jürgen Deller

Termin:
wöchentlich | Montag | 20:15 - 21:45 | 06.04.2021 - 09.07.2021 | Online-Veranstaltung

Inhalt: The module introduces students to the implementation and evaluation of psychological interventions in an exemplary applied discipline. They gain insights in established techniques and recent developments in interventions. The areas of intervention reflect current societal challenges and developments (e.g. of digitalization) and are embedded in current projects of the teachers. Our field of research is highly relevant and under-researched so far for international Human Resource Management. Considerable research has been undertaken into the role of mentoring and expatriation. Although, sending employees on international assignments is a common practice for international organizations, these organizations often spend a considerable amount of resources to support expatriation, the outcome of traditional mentoring programs is often disappointing. Given the opportunities of the digital transformation and the increasing use of digital technologies during the Covid-19 pandemic, it is surprising that very little has been written about the e-mentoring (i.e., virtual reality, e-learnings, videoconferencing) of expatriates. This class will focus on previous research in the context of online mentoring in other research fields. Drawing from a review of the literature and the collection of qualitative data. Supported by an international research team (Jana Bucher, Charleen Gericke, Jürgen Deller, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, and Benjamin Bader, Newcastle University, UK) you will develop skills in analysis, data collection planning and execution as well as data analysis and academic writing.

Applications of Psychology in Society: Intervention and Evaluation C (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Dirk Lehr

Termin:
wöchentlich | Freitag | 10:15 - 11:45 | 09.04.2021 - 09.07.2021 | Online-Veranstaltung

Inhalt: In this course, the topics of intervention and evaluation are not only considered theoretically, but also very practically in a real project. The students will become part of the developmental psychological research project " Atempause", which will take place in the school year 2020/2021 at several primary schools in and around Lüneburg. Within the research project, an intervention will be developed, carried out and evaluated. Both the survey instruments required for the evaluation and the implementation of the intervention will be piloted, i.e. tested, in one or two primary school classes during the seminar. Possible challenges and sources of error are identified and eliminated before the main project starts. The different stages of the project and the pilot phase are also examined theoretically.
