Radikale Nachhaltigkeitstransformationen. Von der Literatur- zur Praxisanalyse von Unternehmen (Seminar)

Inhalt: Dieses Seminar geht der Frage nach, was unter einer radikalen Nachhaltigkeitstransformation verstanden werden kann und welche Bedeutung dies für ein Unternehmen hat. Dabei werden Fragen erörtert wie, wo enden inkrementelle und wo starten disruptive Nachhaltigkeitstransformationen? Wer initiiert, wer treibt und wer organisiert Nachhaltigkeitstransformationen? Welche Stufen und Methoden können in so einem Transformationsprozess unterschieden werden? Im ersten Teil des Seminars wird anhand von einschlägiger und zu recherchierender Literatur ein Überblick über unterschiedliche Verständnisse von Nachhaltigkeitstransformationen entwickelt und präsentiert. Im zweiten Teil des Seminars werden die besprochenen Theorien und Konzepte auf Praxisbeispiele von Unternehmen übertragen, die eine radikale Nachhaltigkeitstransformation durchlebt haben oder sich in ihr befinden. Aus den Analysen sollen Folgerungen für das Management von Unternehmen gezogen werden, denen eine Nachhaltigkeitstransformation noch bevorsteht.

Security and sustainability on transboundary rivers: Navigating conflict and cooperation (Seminar)

Inhalt: Water does not respect political boundaries. Hence, it can be the cause of conflict and a security concern among countries sharing transboundary rivers. While no war has so far been fought on water alone, water use is highly disputed in many transboundary river basins (e.g. the Euphrates, Jordan, Mekong and Nile) and in selected cases water infrastructure has become part of military conflicts. At the same time, riparian countries have concluded more than 400 treaties on the use of transboundary waters and have established about 100 international river basin organizations worldwide. Still, the existence of an intergovernmental treaty or a river basin organization does not necessarily mean that there are no conflicts and the question arises how state and non-state actors may navigate tensions and can continuously govern transboundary waters in a peaceful, equitable and ecologically sustainable manner.

Participants will gain an understanding of sustainable material innovation, exploring eco-friendly textiles, biodegradable fibers, and new materials developed for full recyclability.
