Symposium: "BREAKING the GLASS CEILING / SEALING the LEAKY PIPELINE: Gender (In)Equality in Academia"

Despite a remarkable upward trend on many frontlines, further progression in gender equality shows recent signs of stalling and even serious setbacks. In the most recent EU report on this topic, Germany in particular looks mediocre at best. This symposium aims to address the still existing hindrances of women’s career advancement, especially in academia. We start with two impulse keynotes from experts in the field and continue with a discussion among insiders who showcase successful “female” careers in academia. The symposium is accessible online to the general public; recordings of the livestream and a transcript will be circulated via (unsuspicious) social media. The event is funded by Leuphana’s visiting chair for gender equality and diversity, installed within the budget of the FRG’s “ProfessorInnen-Programm.”
