The doctoral programme

Doctoral candidates combine their individual dissertation projects with seminars, workshops and conferences related to international transformation research within the five interdisciplinary key subject areas and the psychology of transformation. Doctoral training is closely linked to the new Leuphana Transformation Lab that provides room for exchange and knowledge integration. In addition to their academic qualification programme, doctoral candidates will have access to a variety of opportunities. This includes research grants of up to €4.000 annually for conference participation and (international) research exchanges as well as career-related workshops and an exclusive professional programme on “Transformative Leadership and Responsibility”.

The Scholarships

While participation in the doctoral programme is open for all qualified Master’s graduates, up to 36 scholarships are available for candidates who show an outstanding academic fit with the Embracing Transformation endeavour as well as excellent scholarly credentials. Successful applicants are eligible for a three-year scholarship with a monthly allowance of € 1.850 (if applicable plus child allowance), commencing in April 2026. Applications will be open from July 1 until October 1, 2025, with interviews envisaged for the middle of November.

More information about the scholarship programme and the application process will be published soon.
