Embracing Transformation

Climate change, digitalisation, socio-political upheavals, globalisation, new working and organisational models – the present is characterised by profound changes. The future viability of societies depends crucially on their capacity to manage transformations. In the structural programme “Embracing Transformation”, Leuphana researchers investigate what transformation is and how it can be successfully shaped. To this end, they undertake research, education and transfer activities in five interdisciplinary key subject areas and moreover establish a psychology of transformation. The Leuphana Transformation Lab integrates the findings of researchers, doctoral candidates and practice partners into comprehensive transformation knowledge for today’s society.

The Embracing Transformation programme's central infrastructure is the Leuphana Transformation Lab. As a place of knowledge integration, it brings together the research findings from the five key subject areas. Since questions about behavioural changes and possible courses of action permeate all key subject areas equally, a psychology of transformation will be developed. In addition, the lab coordinates all of the programme's educational and transfer activities.

The Embracing Transformation programme is funded by the Strategic Development of Potential initiative of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) and the Volkswagen Foundation.
