The International Society of Social-Ecological Systems meets at Leuphana

The inaugural workshop of the International Society of Social-Ecological Systems (SocSES) brings together 70+ global researchers to shape the future of transformative sustainability science. Together they explore innovative pathways for regenerative change.
Leuphana University of Lüneburg is hosting the first workshop of the recently created Society of Social-Ecological Systems (SocSES). Scholars from all over the world are meeting at Leuphana to discuss future research pathways in social-ecological systems research, including nature-based transformations, relational practices for transformation, transformative change processes, and transdisciplinary practice and methods. More than 70 researchers will participate in the one-week event: August 25th–28th.
During this week, in addition to discussing how to advance the research agenda of the Society, scholars will engage in a series of activities with the Leuphana Transformation Lab.
The event is organizied by Prof. Dr. Berta Martín-López (Social-Ecological Systems Institute). She is co-founder of SocSES, serves as co-director of the Leuphana Transformation Lab and is active in the key subject area (KSA) “Toward a Regenerative Society” of Leuphana’s Embracing Transformation program.
