Book Launch “Proof of Stake: Technological Claims”

CDC Events – Winter Term 2022/2023

On Wednesday, February 1, at 7 p.m., please join us at Kunstverein in Hamburg (Klosterwall 23, close to main train station) for the book launch of Proof of Stake: Technological Claims (Eds. Simon Denny, Timon Beyes, Robin Holt, Claus Pias, Bettina Steinbrüge), the accompanying publication for the exhibition of the same name (September 4 – November 14, 2021). 

Wendy Hui Kyong Chun, whose writing appears in the publication, complements the launch with the talk "How are you? Sentiment, Worker Surveillance, and anti-Asian Racism". The artist Simon Denny as well as the co-editors and some authors are present, too. 

This project is a cooperation of Simon Denny, Kunstverein in Hamburg and Centre for Digital Cultures. Publications can be purchased at the Kunstverein or on our web shop. More information about the publication can be found here.

Wendy Hui Kyong Chun is the Canada 150 Research Chair in New Media at Simon Fraser University and leads the Digital Democracies Institute that was launched in 2019. She studied Systems Design Engineering and English Literature and is author of Control and Freedom: Power and Paranoia in the Age of Fiber Optics (2006), Programmed Visions: Software and Memory (2011), Updating to Remain the Same: Habitual New Media (2016) and Discriminating Data: Correlation, Neighborhoods, and the New Politics of Recognition (2021). Wendy Chun has received fellowships from various foundations and institutes, including the Guggenheim Foundation, ACLS, American Academy of Berlin, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard.
