"Care & Reproduction" working group
The interdisciplinary working group on Care & Reproduction located within the Center for Critical Studies (CCS) is dedicated to pressing issues of biological, social and ecological reproduction in the present age. The global changes in bodily reproductive conditions, due to medical and technological development, raise, for example, political, ethical and practical questions. Since the COVID-19 pandemic at the very latest, the crisis of social infrastructures in the fields of healthcare, childcare and education have gained increasing public attention. And in view of collapsing ecosystems, critiques of the capitalist mode of production – which profits both from the exploitation of unpaid care work and of supposedly unlimited natural resources – is becoming louder. The working group addresses critical, empirical and theoretical analyses of these and related phenomena and discourses of reproduction. Interested parties are welcome!
