Fellow Programme

Fellows pursue projects in outstanding humanities, cultural studies, and social science research at the Daniel Libeskind Central Building of Leuphana University. In this environment, LIAS is committed to Leuphana’s guiding principles of academic freedom, sustainability, and the promotion of diversity. LIAS stimulates scientific dialogue among the fellows and within Leuphana University through regular events such as colloquia, coffee talks, and LIAS lectures
By means of various formats, LIAS strives to build a scientific community that not only involves the current group of fellows, but also LIAS alumni and the university community.
In addition, LIAS supports the further development of the fellows’ research through workshops and conferences, publications and research collaborations.
Some projects are also suitable for network-oriented co-creative projects in experimental formats such as Eye-To-Eye and Unfinished. They facilitate freedom of thought, open exchange, and interdisciplinary encounters with academic and non-academic actors. The LIAS Interventions, which usually take place at non-academic institutions, aim to broaden discourse. The series What’s cooking? promotes community building and academic exchange at LIAS. LIAS is also involved in inter-university formats (for instance, Focus Weeks, graduate colleges, and the series “Ethics in Conversation” or “10 Minutes of Poetry”).
LIAS enriches cultural life in Lüneburg with public readings and book presentations. The monthly film series, in cooperation with the SCALA arthouse cinema, presents rarely shown international films in their original versions and facilitates discussion of research topics with a broader public. LIAS also cooperates with the Kunstraum at Leuphana University.

LIAS is a place for researchers with different life plans. Children and partners are welcome to participate in cultural activities and joint excursions at LIAS.
