Inhalt: Game-based education and learning are powerful tools in promoting responsible attitudes, e.g., towards the environment, professional practice (business, teaching…) or general civil behaviors. In this course, you will learn how to design educational games to promote responsible attitudes with the use of analogue and digital games. Activities will include the playtesting of various games, a theoretically based critique of existing games, and student-led projects to develop game prototypes. As a knowledge foundation, we will cover theories of game-based education and learning with a specific focus on sensitivity to ethical and sustainability-related issues. In the student-led projects, teams will dedicate themselves to a self-chosen problem (e.g., sexism, problematic business conduct, mobbing, waste management…) and develop a concept and a prototype for a game-based educational intervention. Students will gain an overview of diverse types of games and will be able to develop a prototype for a board game, card game, escape game or digital game (software available).
