Inhalt: The primary objective of this seminar is to introduce students to intercultural communication in theory and practice. A further objective is to assist students in improving their intercultural communication skills as well as in increasing their cultural sensitivity and awareness. Potential topics include: perceptions and misunderstandings, value patterns, stereotypes, identity and gender, culture shock, verbal and nonverbal communication. In addition, we will examine intercultural issues in literature and film.

Inhalt: Based on case analysis, both the legal and cultural aspects of negotiations between individual corporations will be dealt with. Emphasis will be put on the specific language necessary for possible conflict resolution.

Inhalt: Students will continue to prepare all aspects necessary to host the international conference, "White-Indian Relations: Moving Towards the 21st Century". Students must attend and help host the conference from May 14-17, 2009. While learning about the history, culture and literature of indigenous people from both Canada and the United States, we will also discuss and practice ways of effectively communicating knowledge in an international conference setting.

Inhalt: Der computerbasierte Quick Placement Test (QPT) dauert ca. 20-30 Minuten und prüft Hör- und Leseverständnis sowie Grammatik- und Wortschatzkenntnisse.
